Halfway between Carmarthen and Llandeilo on the A40, this is a very popular with locals. It is huge and has private function rooms a restaurant and a very pleasant bar. There's an extensive menu, which includes specials. The cod with cockes is highly recommended.

The Angel

A few miles out of town this village pub which has become more a restaurant than a pub. It is run by the owners, which is always a good sign, Rod is the chef his partner ...........runs front of house. Rod was the head chef at the Cawdor Arms Hotel in town up until a couple of years ago, and he has brought fancy restaurant food to this sleepy village. Everything is beautifully presented and there is an extensive bar menu to choose from (only during the week) as well as the great restaurant menu. Booking ahead is advised.

A pub/restaurant in the middle of town on Rhosmaen Street . It has a romantic theme with wedding photographs decorating the walls. The food is not fancy but it is good value pub food. Food is served either in the bar or in the underground bistro at the rear. You'll find sample menus on the website below. Open 11:30am-3pm & 6:30pm-11pm .

Just down the road at the bottom of the hill, this delicatessen is the place to go buy cheeses, olives and all sorts of delights. If you have time take a window table and enjoy a fancy coffee with the papers or a light lunch. My Mum is addicted to the smoked salmon/asparagus quiches.
